6/26/2020 - Updates on 2020-21 School Year / Actualizaciones en el año escolar 2020-21

    Dear SRUSD Family,

As we prepare for the 2020-2021 school year, I want to give you updates on the current educational guidelines and ways Santa Rita will focus on student safety.

    • Teachers and staff have been working together in teams to plan both Safety Measures and Instructional Models.

    • The guidelines from the California Department of Education require schools to consider a hybrid schedule in order to limit the total number of students on campus at any one time for safe social distancing.

    • The hybrid model for Santa Rita will be based on a Cohort Model, wherein some students will receive instruction on campus Mondays and Tuesdays and the other students will be on campus Thursdays and Fridays. Each group will receive instruction through Google Classroom on their respective off-campus days, three days per week.

    • To ensure the safety of our students, campuses will be deep cleaned between the cohorts on Wednesdays and Saturdays. This will disinfect between the student groups. These will be in addition to the daily cleaning services.

    • Students who are unable to attend on campus classes will have the option of receiving all instruction online.

    • When state and local guidelines determine that it is safe, schools will open fully.

    • SRUSD teachers are working hard to develop rigorous and appropriate instruction.

    • Your school will be sending out additional information regarding reopening and student schedules in July.

    • We miss our SRUSD students and families and are looking forward to seeing you soon.

    • Please check and @srusdofficial on Facebook for updates.

    About Us

The Santa Rita Union School District (SRUSD), located in the heart of the Salinas Valley of Monterey County, and is comprised of approximately 3600 students from Pre-School through Eighth Grade.  We are located in the heart of "Steinbeck Country" a region best known for its mild central coast climate and the hometown of Nobel Prize winning recipient, John Steinbeck.

Made up of four elementary schools, and two middle schools and a state preschool, all located within a five mile radius of each other, our district is characterized by rich cultural and linguistic diversity and a ‘home town’ feel evidenced by a warm, welcoming and caring community.

Our classrooms are richly infused with technology, and we are a 1 to 1 ratio Chromebook district which means every student in the district has personal access to an educational technology device within the curriculum.

SRUSD values its community:  School Board, District Leadership, Teachers, Parents, and Students.  All place significant value on the ability of SRUSD to successfully educate students within the context of a small, vibrant and fully engaged district.  The LCAP has been a catalyst for unifying the SRUSD’s vision around instructional excellence and academic achievement for all students.
