A Sincere Thank You for Passing Measure R
Dear Santa Rita Union School District Community,
On behalf of Santa Rita Union School District (SRUSD) Board of Education, students and staff, we express our deep appreciation to the SRUSD community for the successful passage of Measure R. This bond measure will allow SRUSD to make the necessary improvements to address ongoing need for facilities and infrastructure improvements including classroom modernization, repair and enhancements at La Joya, McKinnon, New Republic and Santa Rita elementary schools; and John Gutierrez and Gavilan View middle schools.
These improvements include basic repairs of old school facilities and facilities systems including fixing deteriorating roofs, plumbing, and electrical systems; modernization of outdated existing elementary and middle school classrooms, restrooms, and school facilities; provision of state-of-the-art classrooms with student access to computers and modern technology; and enhancement of campus safety and security.
With the passage of the bond, our community agreed that it is imperative our students are housed in educational environments consistent with the District’s priority to provide school facilities that are safe, attractive, and appropriate for learning. This helps to ensure our students have the educational opportunities they deserve, and a school environment the community can take pride in.
We are incredibly grateful to the many volunteers who worked so hard as part of the Measure R campaigns. Because of their efforts, Measure R is currently passing with 60.58%.
Please be assured that we will do everything possible to guarantee that your hard earned tax dollars will be spent in the most cost effective manner possible. Additionally, these funds will help SRUSD to meet local match requirements for an estimated additional $12 million in State matching funds.
Next steps include the Board of Education establishing an independent Citizens’ Bond Oversight Committee to monitor expenditures from the bond, to ensure that bond revenues are used as specified, and to inform the public about bond expenditures. Look for more information regarding the Citizens’ Bond Oversight Committee shared with our community soon.
We sincerely thank our community for their support for our facilities, our staff members, and ultimately our students. Your investment is appreciated and essential to student success.
