 Mission

The mission of the Santa Rita Union School District,
a dynamic educational organization, is to assure that all students will be provided an appropriate, challenging instructional program, enabling students to become contributing members of a global community, by providing opportunities to develop academic and social skills in a nurturing environment.

 
 
 

Statement of Beliefs

  • A communities influence is an important part of a child's life.
  • Humanity is strengthened by diverse talents and abilities.
  • The ability to deal effectively with change is essential.
  • Morals, ethics, and/or behaviors are rooted in basic spiritual and philosophical beliefs.
  • It is essential to raise children in a safe and nurturing environment.
  • Parents have a shared responsibility with schools for the education of children.
  • All individuals benefit from an appropriate acknowledgment for their achievements.
  • Individuals benefit by being treated with respect.
  • Education has the power to enable individuals to maximize their unique abilities.

    Strategic Parameters

    1. We will not maintain or add any program if, after evaluation, it does not adhere to the Strategic Plan.

    2. We will not tolerate any form of discrimination.

    3. We will not take any action that will jeopardize the financial solvency of the District.

    4. All decisions will be based on what is best for the students.

    5. Stakeholders will be given an opportunity for input prior to major decision-making when appropriate.

    Objectives

    1. All students will meet or exceed appropriate grade level standards as measured by norm-referenced and district criterion-referenced assessments.

    2. All students will demonstrate a greater sensitivity, acceptance, and knowledge of other ethnic origins, languages and abilities as measured by staff, student, and parent surveys.

    3. All students will demonstrate responsible, ethical, and positive behavior as measured by improved 1) attendance, 2) discipline, 3) citizenship, and 4) student and parent perception.

    1.1 Encourage and acknowledge community service requirements for students (Future Assignment)

    2. Program and Resources

    2.1 Establish interventions for students

    2.2 Review and develop assessments

    2.3 Results of district assessments in Reading/Language Arts and Mathematics will be utilized to improve instruction.

    2.4 Data and test results will be evaluated and used to evaluate student progress.

    2.5 The District will begin the process of developing standards-based report cards for each grade level.

    2.6 Results from District Assessments will be effectively communicated to Administration, Staff, Parents and Students.

    2.7 Investigate Integrated Management System(s) that support district assessment.

    2.8 Pilot and implement a Management Information System

    2.9 District staff will be trained in all District adopted programs.

    2.10 Implement a student teacher ratio of 25:1 in grades 4-8

    2.11 Assess foreign language instruction goals and objectives

    2.12 Develop foreign language curriculum reflecting varied levels

    2.13 Provide continuous training, inservices, and staff support time for collaboration

    3. Unity

    3.1 Provide Spanish classes for staff and ESL classes for people in the community

    3.2 Offer an annual "family conference"

    3.3 Time will be provided for colleagues district-wide to meet and discuss common issues.

    3.4 Regular opportunities for staff to meet with superintendent

    3.5 Investigate non-adversarial bargaining strategies

    3.6 Staff receive adult/adult and adult/student interpersonal skills training.

    Planning Team

    The Strategic Plan was developed by the Santa Rita educational community consisting of a group of parents, community/business members, teachers, administrators, staff, and board members. It reflects the diverse cultures and values of the Santa Rita School District.
