SAT/9 is a norm-reference standardized test which assesses a variety of subjects in English. It is mandated for all students in grades 2 - 12 who have been in taught in English in public schools for at least one year.

Standards Assessments is a criterion-reference test which assesses specific California standards.

SABE/2 assesses California's Primary Language instruction. SABE/2 STAR is mandated for students in school less than 12 months, and is voluntary for students in a California school 12 months or more. Test results arereported for the appropriate subject areas and grade levels.
