La Joya

Upon the discovery of building construction problems in
the La Joya School Multipurpose Building, the building was closed and a fenced perimeter
was placed around the building. No one other than contractors, architects, and consultants
have entered the building. The district is still involved in litigation with the
original contractor and sub-contractors as cross-complainants.
Progress to date:
- Construction is well underway and is being overseen by
the Districts IOR, Architect and various consultants as well as ongoing observations
involving the opposing Attorneys and their consultants.
- All demolition and investigation have been completed.
- Reconstruction has begun and is progressing at a steady
pace.
- First day of renovation was established as September 10.
Building is scheduled for opening start of School year August 2008.
- The Special
Master assigned by Superior Court had set a Settlement Conference in December that took
place as scheduled. The next Settlement Conference is scheduled for the end of January
2008.
